Stallholders

Any business that grows, bakes, rears, catches, smokes, brews or cures local food is eligible to take part in the markets.

By local we mean that the business must be based within 30 miles of St Ives (that means almost as far as St Austell and Padstow). Some ingredients can be ‘imported’ from further afield, in which case they must have been substantially altered by the trader.

While the market is primarily geared towards food, other goods may be sold if they are linked directly to the land – for example, cut flowers or plants.

Below is a list of some of our regular stallholders - although its not exhaustive as stalls vary week to week and according to season. You can see what a fantastic variety of Cornish produce we have on sale.

Paul's Vegetables and Herbs

Paul’s vegetables and herbs at St Ives Farmers’ market every week offers very fresh vegetables and herbs, and now and then during the summer my own grown cut and potted flowers. All the vegetables and herbs are either grown by myself or other growers, but more importantly, they are all grown within a 10 mile radius of St Ives and are usually harvested no more than 24 hours prior to market day. This means the produce is very fresh and has not burnt a lot of carbon by coming hundreds of miles. In addition, all my own vegetables are grown with natural and organic fertilisers and feeds, as are some of the other growers’ produce. If all that wasn’t enough, the atmosphere and community spirit in the market is second to none every week! See you there!

Cathy's Homity Pies and Brioche

I have lived in St Ives for 34 years! I live in the centre and love it! I started the Farmers Market last November, making Homity pies after remembering them from when I first moved to Cornwall. I think I now have the recipe to most people's liking.

A friend gave me the idea for the marmite and cheese brioche, then I just added my own ideas and flavours.

I do source my ingredients locally ( from the market if I can!) and local shops . I bake from home and then I am ready for the market on Thursday !

Roseveor Plants - Rebecca Astrinsky

I was born and live in St Ives. I grow my plants in Nancledra, a couple of miles away, where I was brought up and where my mother still lives. As its quite remote I sell my plants in and around St Ives.

Although I don't have any formal training, I come from a family of gardeners. I'm very lucky, I enjoy my work! My plants are grown as naturally as possible and include succulents, aeoniums, herbs, basket & patio plants, hardy perennials and shrubs.

I aim for great quality at affordable prices.

Quayside Fish

Quayside Fish is a real fishmongers selling fresh local fish, seafood, and other locally produced goods direct to the public, from our shop and through our fresh fish mail order service.

Situated in Porthleven – a small historic, Cornish fishing village, Quayside Fish has grown into a nationally recognised artisan business. With its outstanding mail order service, it has an unequalled reputation.

Weather permitting, fish and shellfish caught in the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean are landed to us from small inshore boats from Porthleven and Coverack, owned and managed by local families who are respectful of the sea and the conservation of stocks.

We also top up our counter with the highest standard of fish from one of the local auctions, inshore boat caught of course, and line caught where possible.

Kyfyth Kernow

Kyfyth Kernow means Cornish Preserves. Many of you who come to St Ives Farmers’ market will know me as the jam lady who is fanatical about fruit, jam, and good quality local produce.

At the moment I have 5 varieties of marmalade, lots of strawberry jam, lemon curd (made with Cornish butter), and several chutneys.

Some real favourites with my customers are runner bean chutney, Kea plum jam, lemon curd and traditional Seville orange marmalade.

I also make 3 varieties of mustard , using herbs from the garden, which are proving to be quite popular.

Chypraze Farm

We sell a range of pork and beef cuts and other products from rare breed livestock reared in the outdoors on our small farm in Morvah on the north coast. Our 100 pigs are Saddleback and Middle White and enjoy roaming around 15 acres.

Our cattle are Highland cows: a native rare breed that are ideal for rather rough and steep terrain, and who are part of a Natural England sponsored ‘conservation grazing’ project to restore a more diverse range of plants and flowers on local lowland heath.

In addition we are rearing a small flock of free-range Devon Bronze turkeys for Christmas and have recently started a very small dairy herd of Kerry cattle to provide local, ethical milk from cows that get to keep their calves (available from Spring 2019).
